Speaking on the topic of fashion, Coco Chanel once said,
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
And yes, with the changing times, fashion has also taken up new meanings. Fashion has more to do with inner beauty than external appearances. Hence, when it comes to the flagship fashion event of our nation, expectations were pretty high. We are talking about the ongoing fbb Colors Femina Miss India 2017 beauty pageant happening across India. Specifically, the western region crowning ceremony took place at a gala function organized on May 25, 2017 at Hyatt Regency Pune.
Let’s have a look at 5 of the major highlights from this event
1. The Judges
The judging panel at the event was a star studded one. It was spearheaded by the Western zone mentor, Waluscha D’souza. She received a rocking welcome on the stage with an entourage of dancers swaying to foot tapping beats. A dazzling orange colored dress adorned her.
The highlight of the evening was Vijender Singh. A professional boxer who has received the Padma Shri and bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics apart from many other international medals and awards.
Adinath Kothare also graced the occasion. He’s a Marathi film actor, director, film and television content producer. He’s the son of famous film maker and actor, Mahesh Kothare. The other judges were ace fashion designer Swapnil Shinde and Shreenidhi Shetty. Shreenidhi is an Indian model who’s the winner of Miss India Supranational 2016.
2. The Fashion designers
The evening was elevated to a magical level with the help of the fashion designers. The event was kicked off with models showcasing the designs of the duo Alpa and Reena. The models displayed the Luminaire collection created by the designer duo. This collection focused on the traditional Indian dressing with a slightly contemporary touch to it. The dresses had shades and hues of gold, steel and grey.
In the next round, the models showcased the clothing line-up of fbb. The dresses were taken from the party-wear collection of fbb. The dresses were a reflection of the cool, glamorous and trendy mix of the party scenes across the nation.
The last lineup was the showcase of the creations by Nivedita Saboo. The collection, titled An Orphic Dream, was a lineup of dazzling gowns. The gowns with their embellishments, metallic touch and rich colors provided the perfect setting for crowning moments.
3. The performances
A fashion event would be incomplete without some scintillating performances. The Miss India event was no exception to this. The mesmerizing duo of Salman Y Khan and Gauhar Khan presented an Indo-Western dance act which completely thrilled the audience.
The event also featured the live performance of the Miss India anthem, written and performed by Shibani Kashyap.
